Clinical Massage

This treatment uses a fusion of Eastern and Western advanced massage techniques. A combination of techniques will be applied to achieve a specific outcome, to reduce discomfort and pain, which will therefore improve quality of life, and increase range of movement. Improvements can usually be felt within 1 to 6 treatments.

After an initial consultation and assessment, the following techniques will be used as appropriate:

  • Amma Fusion:
  • Hot/cold Application
  • Myofascial Release
  • Trigger Point Therapy
  • Advanced Sports Stretching

Amma Fusion

This is a blend of the most effective Eastern massage techniques. This is carried out using firm gentle pressure with the hands, to release the energy pathways within the body, restoring health and vitality.

Hot/cold Application

The application of heat and cold therapy will increase the effectiveness of the treatment. Cold applications can be beneficial in reducing inflammation, swelling and pain.

Heat applications can be beneficial for increasing blood supply to the affected area, relaxing muscles, increasing ease of movement and decreasing pain.

Myofascial Release

Fascia within the body is the tough connective tissue that holds us together. Dysfunction of the fascia can be caused by physical or emotional trauma. This technique aims to soften and relax connective tissue that has become rigid, restoring mobility within the fascia and reducing pain.

Trigger Point Therapy

Trigger points are tense bands of tissue within muscles and tendons, which can cause tenderness and pain. They can cause local pain, or referred pain in a predictable zone of reference. For example, many tension headaches do not originate in the head, but from trigger points in the upper back or neck region.

Blood supply is reduced to the area, and irritating chemicals are not removed. Treatment will increase blood flow to the area, flush away toxins and reduce pain.

Advanced Sports Stretching

Various stretching techniques can be used to enhance the effectiveness of the treatment. They will improve flexibility, increase range of movement, and strengthen and balance the musculoskeletal system.

Aftercare advice will also be discussed within the session. This may include stretches, exercise, and relaxation techniques, which will enable you to become fully involved and in control of your recovery.

For long term conditions such as Arthritis, Fibromyalgia, ME/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome etc, a long term plan of treatments, either fortnightly or monthly will be beneficial.

Although a clinical massage treatment will focus on a specific problem, a holistic approach is taken into account, treating each person as a whole, giving an increased sense of well being to your health.
